Rena Zito, assistant professor of sociology, published a chapter on the sociology of deviance in Sociology in Action.

Rena Zito, assistant professor of sociology, has published a chapter on the sociology of deviance in Sociology in Action, an introductory sociology text, published by SAGE Publications, that incorporates experiential learning and best practices in teaching and learning.

From the publisher: "Sociology in Action will inspire your students to do sociology through real-world activities designed to ignite their sociological imaginations. This introductory, contributed text immerses students in an active learning experience that emphasizes hands-on work, application, and learning by example. Each chapter explains sociology's key concepts and theories, and pairs that foundational coverage with a series of carefully-developed learning activities and thought-provoking questions. You choose the activities that will best engage your students, fit the format of your course, and meet your course goals. Your students become actively engaged and learn to do sociology."

Zito's chapter introduces students to core ideas and debates in the sociology of deviance, and it offers a wealth of in-class and out-of-class, hands-on activities that allow students to apply, evaluate, and synthesize across the most important concepts in the field.
