Anthony Hatcher Elected Vice Head of Religion and Media Interest Group
Anthony Hatcher, an associate professor in the School of Communications, was elected the vice head of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication's Religion and Media Interest Group, which puts him in line to be the head of RMIG in 2010-2011.
RMIG, established in 1996, explores how media and religion come together in the world. According to the AEJMC Web site, the group's members engage in research centered on how religion is portrayed "in secular media" and its impact on consumers.
Hatcher organized last spring's Religion and Media conference, which took place on Elon's campus and culminated with a keynote address from Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Leonard Pitts. Hatcher also teachers a course called Religion and Media.
