Kenn Gaither publishes column in Rock Hill (S.C.) Herald
School of Communications Associate Dean Kenn Gaither published a column in the Rock Hill (S.C.) Herald on growing up with his father, a civil rights activist and member of the so-called "Friendship Nine."
The Friendship Nine were recently honored in Rock Hill for eschewing bail for jail 50 years ago and sparking a non-violent protest movement that spread throughout the country. In the column, which was published March 13, Gaither writes: "What the Friendship Nine did some 50 years ago is one chapter in my dad's long book of almost daily battles against bigotry, hatred and racism."
