Elon Law ranked among nation’s most innovative law schools
The National Jurist ranks Elon University School of Law as one of the nation's top 20 innovative law schools.
Elon Law was selected for innovation in legal education and “pushing the boundaries of the traditional law school model.”
“We were surprised and impressed by the level of innovation today,” said Jack Crittenden, editor-in-chief of The National Jurist in the publication’s announcement of most innovative law schools. “Legal educators are no longer just talking about change — they are taking the first steps to make it happen.”
In the The National Jurist's Back to School issue of preLaw magazine, an article about the nation's most innovative law schools says the following about Elon Law:
"Elon’s Preceptor Program is one of the only programs in the country in which students are paired with practicing attorneys in their first year. The preceptors, usually alumni of the school, serve as mentors and discuss all aspects of law school and the working world. Students then shadow the attorneys at their practices.”
In addition to Elon Law, the list of The National Jurist’s 20 most innovative law schools in the country includes Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Pennsylvania State University The Dickinson School of Law and Stanford Law School.
Elon University School of Law offers an innovative and rigorous curriculum enriched through extensive trial practice, clinics, field-based experiences and regular interaction with attorneys, judges and leaders in business and public life.
Elon Law’s Preceptor Program connects students with attorneys in a mentoring relationship. Students receive personal guidance about career planning, networking and the profession from the moment they enter law school.
Through the law school’s Leadership Program, students prepare to become lawyers who can solve regional, national, and global problems. The program emphasizes direct client engagement, project management and development of skills necessary for success in the profession. Elon offers externships and internships in judicial, legislative and executive branches at all levels of government, and with law firms, nonprofit organizations and corporations.
The National Jurist and preLaw magazine are leading news sources in legal education. National Jurist reaches an estimated 100,000 law students. preLaw is read by more than 45,000 prospective law students.
