International and intercultural experiences are integral to a liberal arts education at Elon. The Cannon Centre creates and provides academic and experiential opportunities that foster international and intercultural understanding. Study abroad courses and programs emphasize academic content, cultural awareness and personal growth.

Studying abroad can be one of the most rewarding experiences of a lifetime. Before you apply, there are some basic questions to answer:

Think about your goals for studying abroad.
  • What course(s) can you take abroad, and will these satisfy your Elon degree requirements?
  • What length of time do you want to study abroad? (Year, semester, Winter Term, summer?)
  • In what country do you want to study?
  • Do you speak the language of that country?
  • When you return from studying abroad, how can you use that experience in your academic major? In your career? To get a scholarship to graduate school or a job?
Discuss these questions with your academic advisor and with a study abroad counselor in the Isabella Cannon Centre (278-6700).

Semester and Yearlong Programs

A semester or year is the ideal amount of time for students to immerse themselves in another language and learn to live in another culture. These courses are taught by faculty at local universities. Students study abroad for the regular cost of tuition, room and board plus air fare.
Study Abroad: London

 Winter Term Programs

Elon offers more than two dozen international programs during the four-week Winter Term, which is the most popular term for study abroad. Courses are taught by Elon faculty, and the cost of the class is included in fall tuition. Students just add the extras, such as air fare, accomodations and class-related expenses.

Summer Programs

Elon's study abroad programs offer students unique learning experience in the summer months. Programs include study in Budapest, London, India and more.
