Elon Film Festival to feature international fare
Elon University's School of Communications, in association with
Cinelon (the student film club), will present the 4th Annual Elon Film Festival April 15-18.
The annual festival originated in 1998. Previous festivals included
independent feature and short films from the southeastern USA,
along with production workshops led by regional filmmakers.
This year, the focus of the festival has shifted to contemporary
foreign films, in order to appeal to a wider campus audience
and support the university-wide emphasis on international studies.
Offerings this year include films from France, Iran, Vietnam and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Admission is free, and no tickets are required. These are fine
films one rarely gets a chance to see in the immediate vicinity.
All films will begin at 8 p.m. Here's the screening schedule:
- April 15, Yeager Auditorium, "Ma Vie en Rose" ("My Life in Pink"), France.
- April 16, McEwen 011, "The Circle," Iran.
- April 17, Yeager Auditorium, "Vertical Ray of the Sun" (a.k.a. "At the Height of Summer"), Vietnam.
- April 18, Yeager Auditorium, "No Man's Land," Bosnia-Herzegovina, named best
foreign film of 2001 at the Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards.
