A group of
Elon University Communications Fellows recently visited the set
of "Iron-Jawed Angels," a film being produced in Richmond,
Va., by HBO Productions, a division of AOL Time Warner. The film
stars Oscar winners Hilary Swank, Angelica Huston as well as Julia
Ormond and Patrick Dempsey.
The docudrama reenacts some aspects of the women's suffrage movement
of the early 1900s. It tells the story of Alice Paul, the founder
of the National Woman's Party and author of the Equal Rights Amendment.
She picketed the White House during Woodrow Wilson's presidency
and was jailed. The film is slated to air on HBO in the spring.
The fellows,
accompanied by Elon faculty members Brooke Barnett, Tom Mould and
Ann Cahill, spent a morning on the set of the movie during the filming
of exterior White House scenes.
