Taylor one of Elon trio doing 9/11 research Winter Term
Communications major Mary Taylor was one of three Elon students who spent winter
term on an extensive month-long cross-country tour during which they studied the
reaction of regular citizens to the terror attacks on 9/11. The students visited
New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Little
Rock, Oklahoma City, and many more cities. Taylor is making a
person-on-the-street documentary. Her faculty sponsor is Michael Frontani. She
was accompanied by a business major studying the impact of 9/11 on non-profit
organizations and fundraising and a psychology major who used questionnaires to
measure the psychological impact of the attacks. The three students received a
$2,000 study grant collected from several departments including the School of
Communications, the first time Elon has sponsored such a project. Their findings
will be shared with the entire campus community this spring as part of the annual
Student Undergraduate Research Forum.
