Hubler now with WPEC-TV in Palm Beach
Elon Communications graduate
Robert Hubler knew early on he wanted to be in the news business. He delivered
the Washington Post as a boy, and also collected newspapers covering major local,
national and world events. It's a hobby he still enjoys.
Hubler is now the executive producer at WPEC News 12 in West Palm Beach, Fla. He
is responsible for the content and presentation of all newscasts at the station.
After graduation from Elon in 1990, he began his broadcast career as a
reporter/anchor for a cable news operation near Washington, D.C. After more than
two years there, he moved to WTLV-TV, the Jacksonville, Fla., NBC affiliate, to
begin his producing career.
In 1994, Hubler began working at WSOC-TV, the ABC affiliate in Charlotte, N.C.,
where he won a number of honors, including a National Headliner Award for the
nation's best newscast, an AP award for best spot news, a RTNDAC Award for best
newscast in the Carolinas and an Emmy nomination for best newscast.
Hubler moved to WPLG-TV, the Washington Post-owned ABC affiliate in Miami, in
1996. The Post company moved him to work at its Orlando CBS affiliate station
WKMG-TV in 1997, and he spent five years there before moving to West Palm Beach
in September 2001.
