"The
Big White Wall," a film by 1998 Elon communications graduate Jonathan
Campbell, has been selected for the Los Angeles International Short
Film Festival. The 31-minute film, written, directed and produced
by Campbell, is one of about 200 chosen for the festival, which will
be held Oct. 15-20.
Filmmakers and directors from other festivals will be in attendance,
and Campbell said if all goes according to plan the exposure in Los
Angeles will create more interest in his film. "What I'm hoping is
that the filmmakers and directors at this festival may see it and
think, 'Hey, I wonder if it is entered in our festival,'" Campbell
said in a recent article in the Burlington (N.C.) Times-News.
"The Big White Wall" deals with one man's bout with depression. It
has only one line of dialogue; the bulk of the story is told through
charactersÕ facial expressions and body language. It was filmed in
Burlington and Yanceyville, N.C., and on a set at Piedmont Community
College in Yanceyville.
Campbell owns Emotive Media, a Burlington-based company that produces
corporate and broadcast video projects. He also teaches part-time
in the film and video technology program at Piedmont Community College
in Roxboro, N.C.
