Student-produced Elon
shows win national honors

Shows produced by ESTV and the staff of Elon's television services have been honored by the 2003 Communicator Awards program. "Touchdown Phoenix Football" and "Phoenix14News" received the Award of Distinction, presented to shows or projects that exceed industry standards in production or communication skills.

Each show involved the work of approximately 50 students and included revisions from the previous year. Student producers for "Touchdown Phoenix Football" were Michael Livigne and Ian Smith. ETV/ESTV adviser for the show was J. McMerty. "Phoenix14News" student producers were David Douglas and Jennifer Sposato, with Linda Lashendock serving as ESTV adviser.

The Communicator Awards is an international competition held annually. Elon's winning entries were among 2,867 from 48 states and 11 other countries. Less than 20 percent of the entries earned the Award of Distinction.
