Cates lead copyright workshops

Scholars from Indiana University led a discussion on infringement versus fair use in "Copyrights and Wrongs: The Legal Rights of Copyright Users and Owners in the University Community" in Whitley Auditorium Feb. 14.

Beth Cate (J.D., Harvard Law) is a university counsel, and her husband Fred Cate (J.D., Stanford Law) is a law professor at Indiana University. They spoke with Elon University students and faculty members about copyright issues, explaining the intricacies and issues involved.

They also hosted a copyright session for Elon faculty members and library staff members the preceding afternoon. Their visit was sponsored by the School of Communications.
