Elon School
of Communications student Jennifer Hildebrand was awarded the Swedish
Women's Educational Association 2002 Scholarship Award. The $1,000
award is being applied to the cost of Hildebrand's studies during
Spring Semester 2003 at the University of Orebro in Sweden.
She was presented
the check and a certificate at a special ceremony. The citation
reads "SWEA North Carolina has decided to award the 2002 scholarship
to Jennifer to support her desire to get to know Sweden, its culture,
traditions, language and history. The semester at the University
of Orebro in Sweden will give her an opportunity to deepen her knowledge
about her Scandinavian roots. By giving the scholarship to Jennifer,
SWEA North Carolina is also acknowledging Elon University and its
emphasis on studying abroad." It is signed by Anette Nordvall,
SWEA president.
The group,
founded in 1979, has more than 8,000 members in 70 chapters in 32
countries.
