Elon student's film wins several honors

Ryan Notch, a senior film major in Elon's School of Communications, won two Communicator Awards for his film "Timescape: Sydney." He was presented with an Award of Distinction (finishing in the top 5 percent of entries) for Creativity/Cinematography, and an Award of Distinction in the Low-Budget Film category. His time-lapse venture into one of the world's most fascinating cities is also entered in several other competitions.

A Texas native, Notch lived in California for a time before enrolling at Elon. He worked there as a model and actor and did some cinematography and special-effects work. While enrolled at Elon, he spent most of last year in Australia, working for 20th Century Fox and attending the University of New South Wales.

Notch is spending Winter Term in New York City, working for Cabin Creek, Barbara Kopple's feature documentary production company. He is getting the chance to help with the final stages of pre-production work on several documentaries for which principle photography is expected to begin in the next few weeks.
