Brooke Barnett,
an assistant professor of communications, was interviewed for a
April 25 WRAL-TV story on a local murder case.
The story focused
on media coverage of the murder of April Greer. Greer was pregnant
when she disappeared. Her body was recently discovered and her husband
was arrested, under suspicion for commiting the crime. Barnett,
whose areas of research include the study of broadcast news, compared
the limited national coverage of this case to the extensive media
coverage of the murder of Laci Peterson in California.
WRAL-TV is
based in Raleigh. Barnett's interview took place in the School of
Communications television studios.
