The
School of Communications hosted a tailgate area for alumni and friends
prior to Elon University's Homecoming football game against Western
Carolina Oct. 30.
Alumni were
also invited to stop by McEwen communications building earlier in
the day to visit with current students and faculty members and tour
the facilities. McEwen, originally built to serve as Elon's library,
was renovated several years ago and was reopened in 2000 as a gleaming,
new facility specifically outfitted to house the School of Communications.
Faculty, students,
alumni and friends enjoyed visiting together at a tailgating tent
set up near Lake Mary Nell, along the route leading to Rhodes Field.
It was also
a day of celebration for the student newspaper, The Pendulum, now
in its 30th year of publication. A special "extra" edition
of the paper was produced during the week, and Pendulum editors
were at the Homecoming game to distribute copies to alumni. The
newspaper is classified as a student organization at Elon, and its
operations are overseen by a Media Board that includes student and
faculty members. The online edition of the paper can be found at
http://www.elon.edu/pendulum/.
