Journalism students
win national third-place

Elon University journalism majors Lindsay Porter and Megan Turner are members of an Alamance News reporting team that earned a third-place award in the National Newspaper Association's annual Better Newspaper Contest.

Porter and Turner wrote comprehensive profile feature articles on Alamance County World War II veterans - each wrote one article in a group of five winning articles entered by the Alamance News in the national contest's Community Service category for non-daily newspapers.

The Alamance News is a county-wide weekly newspaper owned and edited by Tom Boney, an Elon benefactor who regularly employs Elon University students as interns and full-time reporters.
