Jessica
Gisclair, an assistant professor in the School of Communications,
and James Roux, an assistant professor of Communications Studies
at Lynchburg College, presented a paper at the Popular Culture Association
Conference, Asian Division, March 23 in San Diego.
The paper,
titled "It is More Than Just Talk: A Communicators Style Analysis
of Mainland Chinese and American Students," examines the verbal
and paraverbal communication of students in an attempt to understand
the style of communication used by a select group in a collectivist
and individualist society. The findings offer a framework from which
to compare Mainland Chinese and American students' communicator
styles.
