Today’s students are faced with a global economy and a shrinking world due to advances in communication and technology. This makes the study of languages and cultures more essential than ever.

The Department of Foreign Languages offers courses in nine languages and Bachelor of Arts degrees in French and Spanish. Minors in French, German Studies, Italian Studies, and Spanish are also offered. Students who major in French or Spanish may choose to complete the program leading to teacher licensure.

Coursework is balanced among cultural, linguistic, and literary topics. Emphasis is placed on practical use of the language, and classroom learning is enhanced by multimedia technology and study abroad opportunities.
