Elon University is looking forward to hosting the 2007 ANAC Summer Institute.
The Summer Institute is an ideal opportunity to connect with ANAC colleagues who share a commitment to integrating liberal arts, professional education, and civic engagement.
The focus of this year's institute will be on best practices in teaching and learning. The institute will emphasize pedagogies and programs that blur traditional disciplinary and classroom boundaries, bringing together curricular and co-curricular efforts to transform student learning on our campuses and around the world.
The three plenary speakers will be:
-
George Kuh (Indiana University) on how assessment can
support transformative undergraduate education
-
Randy Bass (Georgetown University) on what it means to
take student learning, and our teaching, seriously
- Barbara Jacoby (University of Maryland) on the power of community partnerships for civic engagement
The institute’s program also will
include many concurrent sessions exploring innovative
approaches to teaching and learning that are being pioneered
by ANAC faculty and staff. The institute’s collegial
atmosphere will provide you the time and space to reflect on
how you can adapt and apply what you learn.
I look forward to welcoming you to our campus! Please browse through the rest of the Web site to learn more about the program and to find information on travel and accommodations. If there is anything we can do to facilitate your planning, please contact Peter Felten (pfelten@elon.edu, 336-278-5100) or Barbara Guy (bguy@elon.edu, 336-278-5100).
Sincerely,
Gerry Francis
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
