Elon is a community of active citizens. The university encourages the
entire campus community to engage in learning experiences that connect
academic and real-world needs.
By partnering with the community outside the
campus, Elon hopes to instill a sense of civic responsibility in its students,
faculty and staff.  The
Elon community helps build stronger local and global communities through
several programs. Please see the sites at the right to find out how you
can get involved. The university's Council on Civic Engagement includes
representatives from these programs and works to strengthen the civic
mission and its practices across the full range of university activities.
In addition, North Carolina Campus Compact is housed at Elon and serves
as a resource for member campuses throughout the state.
