Brief Biography

 

Dr. Anne Albert has been delighted to serve on the Voice Faculty at Elon University for the last three years.  A native of Buffalo, New York, Dr. Albert moved to North Carolina to complete the Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, which she finished in May of 2009.  In addition to Elon University, Dr. Albert has recently taught at Guildford College and Radford University. Dr. Albert’s professional opera credits include Cio-Cio-San’s Mother in Madame Butterfly (Greensboro Opera) and Sally in Die Fledermaus (Eugene Opera).  Other roles include Sarah in The Ballad of Baby Doe, Zita in Gianni Schicchi, Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Miss Pinkerton in The Old Maid and the Thief and Hope in Anything Goes.  Dr. Albert was the soprano soloist in King David, performed with UNCG choirs, as well as a soloist in Haydn’s Mass for the Time of War and Britten’s Ceremony of Carols with the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro, where she served as a soprano section leader for many years. She was the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with the Master Chorale in Raleigh in 2007.  In addition to her work at UNCG, Dr. Albert holds degrees from the University of Oregon (MM in Voice), Fredonia State College (BM in Voice), and Gordon College (BA in English and Education). In 2008, she won the NATSSA competition in the district of North Carolina and in 2009 was a winner of the UNCG Concerto Competition.  Dr. Albert has recently given recitals at Elon University, First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro, and UNCG.  Dr. Albert is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
