Sometimes I’m not aware of how much I enjoy watching my students gain the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective teachers. This photograph captures the true joy I experience working with my students in a physical activity setting – beyond the knowledge-base and the lesson plans - there is something about my students’ growth and personal embodiment of physical education that makes the discipline come to life.
When we are working on skill and fitness development in the gym utilizing play and movement, there is a new depth of personal revelation and group connection that makes the experience rich. Knowing that they will someday experience these same feelings while contributing to the health and wellness of their students gives me deep satisfaction.
I love the unique contribution physical education offers to the broad educational experience, and I feel privileged to have a seat in the circle.
