Brief Biography
Betsy Stevens is an associate professor in the Management Department. She is a recognized scholar in the field of business ethics and corporate ethical codes. One of her articles was recently mentioned by the Journal of Business Ethics as a " citation classic," an article whose frequency of being cited is at least 4 standard deviations above the mean. Her academic interests are business and management communication, business ethics, international communication, and hospitality management. An active researcher, she has published more than 25 articles in refereed journals such as The Journal of Business Ethics, Business Communication Quarterly, The Journal of Business and Technical Communication, Journal of Business Communication, the Electronic Journal of Business Ethics and Organizational Studies, the Journal of Employment Counseling and the FIU Hospitality Review. As a Fulbright Scholar, she taught at Tomsk State University in Russia and also taught at the Australian International Hotel School in Canberra, Australia. Stevens taught a study abroad course in New Zealand for seven years and is currently teaching "Business and Culture of VIetnam," a course which focuses on business and the hospitality industry in Vietnam.

Current Projects
Stevens has a continuing research stream studying corporate ethical codes. She recently completed an analysis of the Bear Sterns' and Lehman Brothers' codes to determine if the codes were sufficently robust to serve as strategic corporate documents in the organizations. She also completed a study of 30 hotel general managers during the 2008 recession to determine what kinds of ethical issues they faced which was published in the December, 2011 issue of the Florida International University, FIU Hospitality Review.
