During my 11 years here, I have witnessed Elon grow from a college to a university, from The Fighting Christians to The Phoenix, from a few buildings on campus to many, and from hundreds of students to thousands. I have witnessed students arriving as frightened freshmen and develop into maturing seniors, ready to tackle the world as professional educators.
I am grateful for every note, email, and phone call from students letting me know that I have left my imprint on their lives. Through all that I have encountered, I have concluded that my personal approach to any situation creates the climate. It is my daily mood that can set the atmosphere in the office. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. (I choose the latter!) It is in the daily tasks of dealing with the students, faculty and staff, that I am able to share my faith in the way I handle crises. On a personal note, Elon provided me with the opportunity of a lifetime to travel to London. It was an awesome, life-changing experience. Thank you, Elon!
