I have been teaching in the Sociology and Anthropology Department, as well as the Education Department, at Elon University since 1991. Prior to coming to Elon, I taught 9th grade civics and economics for twelve years in the public school system. This experience contributed to my success at Elon.
I am an innovative, energetic and dedicated teacher. When I am teaching sociology, education, or global studies, I am exhibiting my passion. I am known by my students to express myself through my body language as can be observed in my portrait.
My organizational skills and creativity have enhanced students’ learning and enjoyment. Students in my classes have become active and engaged learners. I provide opportunities for students to expand their intellectual and social boundaries as well as to construct and critique their own beliefs.
My travels to Europe, Australia, and Africa have affected and enhanced my overall teaching at Elon. These experiences have challenged and enabled me to think globally and to act responsibly for the good of humankind.
