Brief Biography
Dr. Duffy, Assistant Professor, came to Elon in July 2011 in the role of Director of Clinical Education as a founding faculty member of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Before coming to Elon, Dr. Duffy was a practicing clinician at Burlington Pediatrics caring for infants, children and adolescents. In addition, she often taught medical students, pediatric residents and physician assistant students in the office setting. She is looking forward to working with medical providers in Alamance and Guilford counties and the surrounding regions. Her goal is to increase the awareness in the medical community of the role physician assistants can play in increasing access to patient-centered care and improving patient outcomes.
Her research interests are the prevention and treatment of pediatric obesity and working within communities to embrace and create healthier environments. She volunteers in the community to further these goals by being an active member of several organizations including Healthy Alamance, the School Health Advisory Council for the Alamance-Burlington School System and its Wellness subcommittee and the Women’s Resource Center. She has been involved with Girl Scouts as a leader since 2000, encouraging girls to be active in their communities and to develop the skills to become tomorrow’s leaders. Dr. Duffy and her family live in Graham.
