Numen and Lumen; Knowledge and Light.
I am constantly mindful of Elon's motto as we prepare teachers. The light that suddenly shines in a young person’s mind as he or she suddenly makes a connection with knowledge, assisted by a teacher, is one of the most rewarding moments in that teacher’s life.
To have been a part of the work done by Elon faculty as we have prepared hundreds of teachers has been most rewarding. Helping the aspiring Elon students struggle with the myriad of tasks that are needed to successfully meet the needs of the students and watching the Elon students master the complexity of teaching is most gratifying.
I am humbled to have had the opportunity to work here, with this group of faculty in this most important task – preparing future teachers.
