A native New Yorker, I was born and raised on the lower Eastside of Manhattan between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. This location allowed me early access to a "global environment" since our family frequented Little Italy, New York's Chinatown, and the Jewish district, all in walking distance from our four-block neighborhood. Despite the Buck name by marriage of many years, the Italian-American background is obvious to anyone who has met me. Completing college in Western New York yielded jobs for me and my husband, Paul, in Rochester, NY, where we spent a number of years lashed by lake-effect snows and ice. When the opportunity arose to leave parkas and snow boots to come to Greensboro, we were happy to relocate and start anew in an area where winter is more like fall in upstate NY. I have one married son and he and his wife are close by which means that I have access to a darling first grandchild. I continue to enjoy teaching, consulting, and leading in various roles.
