Brief Biography

Worked for over twenty years in professional sports, amateur sports, recreation and public relations.  Spent four years as GM of the Cleveland Indians affiliate in Burlington, North Carolina and later served as athletic director for the Burlington Recreation & Parks Department for five years. Previous work experience includes marketing, sales and management duties in the NHL, minor league baseball and hockey.  Worked in publicity for two New York-based agencies with clients including heavyweight boxing champion Riddick Bowe. Author of Cradle of the Game: Baseball & Ballparks in North Carolina (August Publications, 2008, 2nd Ed. 2014). A founder of the Coastal Plain League. Actively involved with Burlington-Alamance Sports Development Council and Alamance Partnership for Children. Areas of interest and research include physical activity programs for underserved youth and the business of baseball. Began as an adjunct at Elon in 2007 and joined the faculty full-time in 2012.
