Born in Seattle, I have lived for extended periods in Schenectady, NY, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, and Topeka, KS, before coming to North Carolina. I have also studied and/or taught in Spain (Madrid, Seville) and Mexico (Xalapa, Cuernavaca, Zacatecas).
