|Abstract:||This collection includes materials relating to two grants that Elon University faculty member, Jimmie Agnew, was involved with during part of her time at Elon. The collection includes grant proposals and final reports from 1986-1988. The titles of the two grants that she was involved with were "Using Technology and Community Resources in Teaching Mathematics and Science" and "Science, Mathematics, and Technology in the Classroom and Community." The collection is arranged chronologically, then alphabetically by type of material.|

Jimmie Agnew served on the Elon University (formerly Elon College) faculty from 1985 until 2013 when she retired. She was an Associate Professor of Science Education and Physics, and served as the Science Education Coordinator at Elon for 26 years. She is also one of the founding members of Elon Hillel. Prior to working at Elon, Jimmie served in a number of education roles both in North Carolina and Maryland. From 1970 until 1980 she was a teacher of chemistry, physics, earth and physical science at Laurel Senior High School and Laurel Junior High School in Prince Georges County Public School system in Maryland. She has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina and Anne Arundel Community College, and Howard Community College in Maryland. Additionally, Jimmie served as the Associate Director at the Environmental Education Center in High Point, North Carolina.
Jimmie Agnew received her Ph.D. in Science Education (Physical Sciences) from The American University in Washington, D.C. in 1981. She received an M.S. in Science Teaching (Chemistry) from The American University in Washington, D.C. in 1974. Additionally, she earned a B.A. in Education (Combined Sciences) from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1971. During 1965-1967 she attended Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and received a general liberal arts background education.
