In the April 10 article, Anderson discusses tax day 2017 and how the amount of time and money spent on preparing tax returns changed in recent years.

“The cost of having taxes professionally prepared has increased in recent years, as has the time involved,” Anderson told WalletHub. “Most tax preparation services charge a fixed dollar amount per form that is included in the tax return, so the more complex a return is, the greater will be its cost.”

To save time and money, Anderson recommended using tax software or taking advantage of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

Anderson also provided thoughts on the Trump administration’s tax reform proposal and the impact it may have on economic growth.

Anderson joined Elon’s faculty in 2014 and teaches income tax and financial accounting courses. Prior to Elon, she taught at Appalachian State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She received a doctorate from the University of Texas at Arlington and bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of North Texas.

She is a certified public accountant in North Carolina, as well as a certified financial planner.
