Elon launches new expert center for the media
The new site highlights Elon faculty and staff with expertise in areas of great interest to the media and offers a new way for reporters to connect with faculty experts for interviews.
Elon University has launched a new database designed to provide journalists the ability to quickly and easily connect with faculty and staff experts for insights into a broad range of topics currently in the news.
The new “Experts for the Media” site offers comprehensive profiles of select faculty and staff members that include their areas of expertise, multimedia content, links to publications and social media accounts, past media experience and other useful information.
In addition to the profiles, the site includes expert spotlights that highlight timely or high-interest news topics and Elon experts who available to be interviewed on those topics. For instance, a recent spotlight about online extremism and hate groups featured the research of Megan Squire, professor of computer science, and her recent interview with a media outlet on the topic.
The new media expert center is available at www.elon.edu/experts. The site is a searchable online resource that is powered by ExpertFile – www.expertfile.com — an online expertise marketing platform and database. Along with powering content on Elon’s website, ExpertFile partners with the Associated Press and Dejero to provide access to faculty and staff expert profiles to broadcast, print and online media outlets.
Elon will continue adding experts to this new resource in an effort to be a more efficient and effective resource for the media. Anyone with questions about the new expert center or journalists interested in connecting with Elon faculty and staff should reach out to Owen Covington, director of the Elon University News Bureau, at email@example.com or (336) 278-7413.
