Ken Calhoun has story selected for New Stories from the South anthology
A short story by Ken Calhoun, assistant professor in the School of Communications, was selected by writer Amy Hempel to appear in "New Stories from the South: The Year's Best, 2010."
The story, titled "Nightblooming," appeared last summer in the Paris Review.
"New Stories from the South" is an anthology published by Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill. The annual compilation, which launched in 1986, has featured stories by Russell Banks, John Barth, Larry Brown, Andre Debus, Barry Hannah, Aaron Gwyn, Lee Smith, Peter Taylor and others.
The 2010 edition will be available for purchase in bookstores in August. It will include stories by Wells Tower, Kevin Wilson, Padgett Powell, Elizabeth Spencer, Tim Gautreaux and Ann Pancake.
