Hunter Bacot speaks with regional media on U.S. Senate race
Elon University Poll director Hunter Bacot spoke at length in June with NBC17 in Raleigh, N.C., and with the national news organization Real Clear Politics about the challenges faced by Democrats in unseating U.S. Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., in November.
Both interviews generated publicity for the Elon University Poll as the 2010 midterm elections approach. From the Real Clear Politics story by reporter Kyle Trygstad:
Hunter Bacot, polling director at Elon University, says money is going to be a "primary factor."
"Hagan had money and was able to establish the narrative and dictate it," said Bacot. "That's one of the things missing here. She's going to need money to get on the airwaves and try to move the narrative to her favor."
Bacot offered insight into the final debate performance between Democratic candidates Elaine Marshall and Cal Cunningham before the June 22 run-off election for the right to challenge Burr. In the interview, accessible by clicking on the link to the right, Bacot notes that Cunningham missed opportunities to distinguished himself from Marshall.
