Elon Army ROTC Cadets complete German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge testing

Elon Army ROTC hosted its third-annual German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge testing Feb. 28- March 1. Three Cadets - Jack Selbo, Elliott Nuss and William Patton - were awarded the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency in Gold.

German Army representative Sgt. Maj. Rolf Lichtenberg administered the demanding series of tests to selected Elon Cadets. Tasks included a 200-meter timed swim, track and field events such as high jump and shot put, and a timed sprint. Cadets were also expected to pass pistol marksmanship tests. The testing culminated with a 7.5-mile rucksack march/run with combat gear.

The German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency is awarded by the Bundeswehr - the modern German Army. This badge is among the few Allied Nation badges permitted for award and wear by personnel in the United States Army. The badge is awarded in one of three grades: Gold, Silver or Bronze. The criteria for each award level are based upon testing performance, particularly in timed events and pistol marksmanship.

The Elon Army ROTC department congratulates these Cadets for their accomplishments.
