Don Grady elected to Accrediting Council

School of Communications Associate Dean Don Grady was one of the top two vote-getters on a four-person ballot to be elected as a representative to the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Grady will begin his three-year term in the fall, along with the director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina.

Grady, who has been at Elon since 1985, regularly teaches broadcast courses, as well as senior capstone classes. He also has worked closely with faculty in writing the School of Communications' scholarship statement, teaching enhancement plan, program policies statement and assessment plan.

Outside Elon, Grady has conducted program reviews for other journalism and communication departments and participated in writing and implementing self-study materials for ACEJMC accreditation. Additionally, he has made several presentations at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, Broadcast Education Association and Radio-Television Digital News Association conferences.

Communications Dean Paul Parsons also serves on the Accrediting Council as an elected representative of the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication. Parsons served as president of ASJMC in 2010-2011.

Elon University is the only school with two members on the 26-person Accrediting Council.
