KCSLCE: Science Tutors Needed in the Alamance Burlington School System

The Alamance Burlington School System is looking for volunteers to help in their after school tutoring program. The program serves 280 students in 6 elementary schools (Eastlawn, Andrews, Newlin, Hillcrest, Haw River, and North Graham). The program focuses on academics, recreation, and enrichment.

The program is looking for science students to help tutor elementary school students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) tutoring. The program will use LEGO education kits and focuses on hands-on inquiry based learning.

Volunteers are needed for both one-time commitments and continually commitments. The project runs all year on Monday through Thursday afternoons from 2:35 to 5:00 p.m. The schools will provide training and a background check is required.

All Elon students must attend a Title IX Training before volunteering in the community. Your agency may also require a criminal background check.

If you are interested in volunteering with the program, please contact Natalie Pickett at Natalie_Pickett@abss.k12.nc.us or by calling 336-438-4118.
