Dr. Jim Barbour, economics professor at Elon, is leveraging student-owned mobile devices in a variety of ways. Using software called LectureTools, Dr. Barbour combines PowerPoint presentations with student notes assistant, advanced clickers (classroom response systems), a Twitter-type backchannel for student questions, and a class confusion barometer. At this session, Dr. Barbour will demonstrate how he uses LectureTools and discuss the advantages it gives him and his students over traditional lectures.
