Sunlight Foundation releases new Open States app

The Sunlight Foundation has released a new app called Open States that will allow users to find their state legislators, review votes and track bills.

The app can be found at http://openstates.org/, and anyone, anywhere in the United States can use it. to gather legislative data from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. Information is available in a common format via an API and bulk download.

According to its website, the Sunlight Foundation is "a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that uses the power of the Internet to catalyze greater government openness and transparency, and provides new tools and resources for media and citizens, alike."
