DPT and PA programs enroll Class of 2016

Elon’s School of Health Sciences welcomed two new classes of graduate students to the university community this week.

The 27-month, full-time Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program enrolled 38 students. The three-year, full-time Doctor of Physical Therapy program enrolled 50 students. Admission for both programs is highly selective.

Physician Assistant Studies

The class of 38 students represents undergraduate institutions such as UNC-Chapel Hill, Clemson University, Lehigh University, University of Richmond and Elon University. Students range in age from 20 to 43 with an average age of 25, and have a variety of health care experiences, averaging 3,244 hours each. The average GPA is 3.54 and the average GRE score on the revised scale is 306 (which translates to 1180 on the prior scale). Enrolling students come from 13 states including Colorado, Massachusetts and Hawaii.

The Physician Assistant Studies Class of 2016

The Department of Physician Assistant Studies enrolled its charter class in 2013. The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation - Provisional to the Elon University Physician Assistant Program. Accreditation - Provisional is an accreditation status. The status indicates that the plans and resource allocation for the proposed program appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards, if fully implemented as planned. Accreditation - Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status and is limited to no more than five years for any program.

Doctor of Physical Therapy

The class of 50 students represents undergraduate institutions such as UNC-Chapel Hill, Calvin College, Clemson University, University of Florida, Wake Forest University and three students from Elon University. Students range in age from 20 to 32 (with an average age of 22) and come from 15 states including California, Massachusetts and Illinois. The average GPA is 3.64 and the average GRE score on the revised scale is 305 (which translates to 1170 on the prior scale).
