"A Day for Elon" honors Elon's 125th anniversary

The celebration will be held March 11 as part of the university’s Founders Day activities.

Plans are underway for a historic celebration of Elon’s 125th anniversary that will engage alumni, students, parents and friends both on campus and around the world.

“’A Day for Elon’ is a way for all members of the Elon family to support the university during its milestone anniversary, no matter where they are on March 11,” said John H. Barnhill ’92, assistant vice president for university advancement. “By wearing their Elon gear, making a gift to the university, and spreading the word about ‘A Day for Elon,’ everyone can play a role in this special day.”

The goal is to make “A Day for Elon” the greatest day of giving in the university’s history. Gifts of all sizes and designations will count toward the total given during the campaign, and will support a range of areas within the university including the Phoenix Club, academic departments and student scholarships.

“'A Day for Elon’ is a time for everyone who has been touched by Elon to come together and give back to this special community,” said Durice White '09, associate director of alumni engagement. “It’s about celebrating not just the past, but the present and future of this transformational university.”
