Elon Local News student places in top 10 in Hearst competition
Senior student grabs sixth place in nationwide television reporting contest.
Senior journalism and religious studies double major Nicole Chadwick placed sixth in the 2013-2014 Hearst Journalism Awards Broadcast News Competition II.
Her top-10 story, "125 Years: Diversity," covered how Elon University has addressed the issue of diversity on campus during its 125-year history.
Chadwick, a Communications Fellow, is a reporter for Elon Local News and has completed internships at "CBS Sunday Morning" and "60 Minutes."
This year, Chadwick finished behind students from schools such as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Missouri and Northwestern University.
The Hearst Foundation’s Journalism Awards Program gives journalism majors an opportunity to compete for personal scholarships, school grants and stipends by writing stories on current events.
