Cynthia Fair, an associate professor of human services, has published an article in the Journal of HIV/AIDS Prevention in Children and Youth. "'I don’t want to sit by you:' A Preliminary Study of Stories and Consequences of Stigma and Discrimination from HIV-positive Mothers and their Children” included interviews with HIV-positive women and their uninfected children about experiences of stigma and discrimination.

Fair co-authored the article with Brittany Brackett, an Elon alum who is a child life specialist at the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia. Brackett completed the research while she was an undergraduate in the Social Science Scholars program.
