We asked some new members of the Elon community to tell us about themselves.

Compiled by News Bureau Director David Hibbard

Stephanie Adams Stephanie Adams, assistant director of residence life, Danieley Center

Stephanie joins Elon from Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Md., where she was an assistant director of campus life. She looks forward to being part of the active community at Danieley Center.

Stephanie earned her bachelor's degree from Central Missouri State University and a master's degree from Western Illinois University.

A member of the American College Personnel Association, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family and the new friends she is making here at Elon. She also lists cooking and travel among her hobbies.
Jane Deaton Jane Deaton, comptroller

Jane came down the road just a bit to take her new job as Elon's comptroller. Previously, she served in the same capacity with Glen Raven Yarn Co., just a few miles from campus. She says the family atmosphere and recent growth of the campus were the main reasons she came to work at Elon.

Her responsibilities at Elon will be similar to those she had at Glen Raven, where she handled all accounting functions and monthly financial reports. She has also worked for Kayser-Roth Corporation and Carlyle and Company Jewelers in Greensboro.

Jane, who earned bachelor's degrees in business and accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, enjoys walking and reading to unwind and relax. And since her children are involved in a variety of sports activities, she tries to catch as many of their games as possible.

Jane and her husband, Barry, have three children, Jennifer, 19, Melissa, 10, and Allison, 7. They enjoy traveling together, and you're likely to see them out at one of the Mexican restaurants in the area, enjoying Jane's favorite type of food!
Sonya Dial Sienerth Sonya Dial Sienerth, coordinator of prospect database

Sonya has done a little bit of everything in her life, which she says keeps things lively and exciting. "I have an interesting employment background," she says. "I have sold nuts and bolts, and I was a computer system administrator once!"

No doubt that experience will come in handy in her new position in the admissions office, where she has the responsibility of maintaining the database of new and prospective students.

Sonya earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Pfeiffer University, located in her hometown of Misenheimer, N.C. Her connection to Elon is her husband, Karl, who teaches in the chemistry department and was recently named the first recipient of the Japheth E. Rawls Professorship. They have three children, Nicholas, 9, Ryan, 7, and Sabrina, 5, who keep them busy at home and with school projects. They also have a cat named Storm.

Besides spending time with her family and working with arts and crafts, Sonya says she likes to read "a lot!" Recently, she finished reading "A Christmas Wedding" by Andrew Greeley. Sonya also enjoys a wide variety of music, from classical to country.

If she's in the kitchen, Sonya is probably making homemade macaroni and cheese, following her mother's recipe. "It is easily my favorite dish, and I usually make a meal out of it."
Will Holthouser Will Holthouser, assistant football coach

Will returns to Elon after spending the past two seasons at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He served on Elon's football coaching staff in 1998 and 1999 as defensive coordinator, and he rejoins the Phoenix in the same capacity. In 1999, with Will as its coordinator, Elon's defensive unit was ranked eighth in the country in total defense among NCAA Division I-AA schools. He says he is looking forward to working with the Elon defense again.

"It is great to be back at Elon," says Will, who has been involved with football either as a player or coach since 1970. "Rhodes Stadium is a fabulous facility, and Elon's beautiful campus and academic reputation make this a great place to coach."

Will earned a bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University, where he was a defensive lineman on the first team in the school's history to win the Atlantic Coast Conference championship. He has served as an assistant coach at Gardner-Webb University, Western Carolina University, Virginia Military Institute and The Citadel.

Will enjoys spending his spare time on his small farm near Cullowhee, raising vegetables and tending horses. He and his wife, Carrie, have two children, Will and Hannah.
