How am I covered by my health insurance if I need medical assistance while I am away from home?

If an employee or a family member covered under Elon's health plan is traveling outside of the service area, then benefits will be paid at 80 percent after the $200 calendar year deductible has been met.

If a covered person is traveling outside of the service area and experiences an emergency illness or injury and is treated in a hospital emergency room, then the benefits will be paid at 100 percent after a $50 copayment. (The copayment will be waived if admitted to the hospital.) Remember that you need to notify CIGNA within one working day if the emergency requires admission to the hospital.
