Linda Niedziela, assistant professor of biology
With hobbies and interests ranging from cooking to molecular toxicology,
there's no telling what you might find Linda doing! She also enjoys
woodworking and square dancing, as well as "sappy" romance
movies.
Linda comes to Elon from the University of Richmond. She holds a bachelor's
degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a doctorate from West
Virginia University. She finds the sense of community at Elon very
appealing and enjoys the emphasis Elon places on students and teaching.
Linda and her husband, Carl, enjoy listening to all types of music.
She also likes to read mysteries and contemporary fiction. |
Dave Powell, associate professor and chair, computing sciences
Dave joined the Elon faculty in July after working for Cisco Systems,
Inc., experience which should serve him well in his new position.
He says he was attracted to Elon because of its dedication to teaching
and students.
Dave brings a wealth of diverse experience with him to Elon. He holds
a master's degree in civil engineering, a master's degree in computer
engineering, a master of business of administration degree and a doctorate
from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
A jogging enthusiast, Dave also has an interest in high school athletics,
and he lists artificial intelligence among his research interests.
He also enjoys music by the Beatles and the movie "Rudy."
Dave and his wife, Margo, have a son, David, and a daughter, Kimberly.

Bonnie Smith, director of sponsored programs
Bonnie grew up in Matthews, Va., in the Tidewater region, but she
considers North Carolina her home. She earned an associate's degree
at Louisburg College and a bachelor's degree at the University of
North Carolina at Wilmington. Most recently, she worked at Western
Kentucky University, where she earned a master's degree in public
administration.
In her new position, Bonnie works with faculty to develop proposals
to sponsors for funding. She also helps faculty to locate potential
sponsors and ensures that sponsor grants are being properly implemented.
She says she was attracted to Elon because of the location, the campus
and the spirit of Elon's people.
Since Bonnie's mother raises Great Danes, it's no surprise that she
has two of her own, named Dante and Jewel. Bonnie also enjoys going
to the movies, reading and cooking. |
Paula Wilkerson, secretary for purchasing
Paula comes to Elon from Rego Cryo-Flow Products in Burlington, where
she worked as a secretary. She makes her home here in Elon, where
she enjoys reading everything from drama to mysteries to romance novels.
She also stays busy tending to her garden, and she enjoys swimming.
When she's not in her yard or enjoying the water somewhere, Paula
has plenty of family to have fun with. She enjoys spending time with
her two sisters, a nephew and a niece. |
