October 2001 Issue
Last month was a time of remembrance at Elon. Sept. 11 brought news of
terrorist attacks that shook
the campus and the entire country. Two days later, the Elon community
lost a colleague and friend in Joel
Speckhard. Then on Sept. 20, hundreds of panels from the NAMES
Project AIDS Memorial Quilt went on display, memorializing those who
have died of AIDS. Please visit the links above to see how these events

Emerging Leaders in Technology at Elon
The ELITE
program helps faculty, staff and students integrate technology into
academic and student life. Learn how the ELITE team (below) helps
with technology projects.

retreat last August, which included a white-water rafting trip on
the French Broad River in Hot Springs, N.C.
