Bill Adams, assistant professor of performing arts
Bill says there were many reasons for leaving Oklahoma Panhandle State
University to come to Elon, but most important were "the stellar
performing arts program, the breathtaking campus and the outstanding people."
Bill earned his bachelor's degree from California State University
at San Bernardino and a doctorate from the University of Texas. He
enjoys a cappella choral music, opera, symphonies, jazz and
blues, and his talents as a baritone earned him a spot in a recent
concert at Duke Chapel to benefit victims of the terrorist attacks.
Bill and his wife, Nicole, have a 2-year-old son, Michael. Bill says
he enjoys spending time with Michael, "just watching football,
swimming or playing in the park together." A native of Alta Loma,
Calif., Bill has research interests in British vocal music and music
education pedagogies. He also enjoys golf and genealogy.

Theresa Beckett, media services production specialist
Theresa is new to her job in media services, but she certainly isn't
new to Elon. A native of Annapolis, Md., Theresa earned her degree
in corporate communications with a business administration minor
in May.
It's no surprise that Theresa, who played for the women's soccer team,
decided to stay at Elon. Her father, James, played football here and
graduated from Elon in 1972. And her younger sister, Angela, is a
sophomore here and also plays soccer for the Phoenix. "I'm a
legacy, I loved the campus and I couldn't let go," Theresa says.
During her spare time, Theresa likes to have fun with her dog, Winston,
and collects anything with the Disney character Tigger on it. She
also has a love for interior design, which came in handy at her previous
job with Pier 1 Imports.

Jimmy Curiazza, HVAC mechanic
Jimmy comes to Elon after working with General Dynamics, and he says
Elon's perfect location and pristine campus attracted him here.
Originally from Bayonne, N.J., Jimmy attended Apex Technical College
in New York City, as well as New York University. He is a member of
the North Carolina Contractors Association, and says he likes the
mechanical and technical aspects of his job. He enjoys classical music,
lists the piano as one of his hobbies and is a member of the Greensboro
Opera Company. He also enjoys computer automation and working on repairs
around the house.
Jimmy and his wife, Tracy, have a 4-year-old daughter, Francesca. The family
pets include a beagle, a turtle and a fish. To get away from it all,
Jimmy enjoys trips to the mountains and the beach, as well as spending
time with family.

Arthur Fadde, director of graduate admissions
Arthur joins the graduate admissions staff after working at nearby
High Point University, where he served as assistant dean of admissions.
A native of Toms River, N.J., he earned both bachelor's and master's
degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Arthur says Elon is recognized for its quality and students. "Elon's
growing reputation as a leader in student-centered higher education
is just one of the things that attracted me here," he says.
When he's not at the office, Arthur enjoys spending time with
his wife, Shelley, and their 2-year-old son, Jackson. He likes going
to movies and "attempting to play golf" in his spare time.
He also enjoys a variety of music, including jazz, modern rock and
'80s hits.

Richard Gang, assistant professor of theatre arts
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Richard has worked as both an educator
and a professional actor during his career. He has performed in off-Broadway
productions of "The Fantasticks" and "Perfect Crime,"
in addition to teaching at Rutgers University, Rider University and
Westminster Choir College.
An avid bodybuilder, Richard says he "lifts incredible amounts
of weight for fun!" He balances his intense workouts by tending
to his garden and keeping an eye on Cinder, Ella, Goldie and Lambie,
his four "not-so-blind mice."
Richard earned a bachelor's degree from New York University and master's
degrees from Emerson College and Rutgers University. He is a member
of the Voice and Speech Trainers of America and has research interests
in phonetics, dialects, method acting and energy work.
Richard has a daughter, Rebecca, who is 24.

Irene
Gibson, technical services requisition clerk
After working as a temporary employee at Elon for two years, Irene
is excited to have a full-time position here. "I have found my
permanent home in the library," she says of her position as the
technical services requisition clerk. "I am proud to be a part
of Elon University."
Previously, Irene worked at Lucent Technologies. For two years, she
learned about Elon through experience, working in temporary positions
in human resources, admissions and the library.
Irene and her husband, William, have a grown daughter, Anita. Irene
says she loves to travel and read, and she just finished reading Jerry
Bledsoe's "Death Sentence."

Maureen Ihrie, associate professor of Spanish
Maureen joins Elon after 11 years at Kansas State University. She
is impressed with Elon's commitment to its students. "There is
a high value placed on teaching and students here," she says,
adding that those priorities were a factor in her decision to come
to Elon.
Originally from Seattle, Wash., Maureen earned her bachelor's degree
and a doctorate from Bryn Mawr College. She is a member of the Cervantes
Society and several other professional organizations, and she has
a particular interest in medieval and Golden Age peninsular Spanish
prose.
Maureen stays busy at home by working in the garden and cooking. She
also enjoys reading, adding that she is "addicted to mystery,
detective and police novels." She and her husband, Bob, and their
two daughters, Rebecca, 22, and Megan, 18, also enjoy the company
of a "cranky, 16-year-old cat."

Helen Kreuzer, assistant professor of biology
Helen brings a love of teaching to the classroom, which she says was
a major influence in her decision to join the Elon faculty. "Elon
has a reputation as a teaching institution," she says. I
love teaching, and Ive spent many years working with science
teachers and students.
Helen didn't have to alter her daily commute very much to come to
Elon; previously, she worked for Carolina Biological Supply Company
in Burlington. She earned a bachelor's degree and two master's degrees
from the University of Alabama, and a doctorate in microbiology and
genetics from Duke University. Among her research interests are the
spread of antibiotic resistance and DNA replication and recombination.
A basset hound named Rosie and two dachshunds, Daisy and Pete, keep
Helen busy at home. She also enjoys carpentry, home improvement, backpacking,
kayaking and running.

Paul Parsons, dean of the School of Communications
Spending a year in Beijing, China, sparked Paul's interest in doing
comparative studies of U.S. and Chinese media. In 1992-93, Paul and
his wife, Mary Helen, immersed themselves in Chinese culture, along
with their children, John David, 17, and Catherine, 14. This was during
Paul's appointment as a Fulbright professor at the China School of
Journalism.
Paul comes to Elon after 16 years at Kansas State University, where
he was a professor and journalism head in the Miller School of Journalism
and Mass Communications. He says he was attracted to Elon by the university's
global perspective and emphasis on teaching.
Before embarking on his teaching career, Paul spent 10 years covering
Arkansas politics for United Press International and the Associated
Press. In his free time, Paul enjoys playing golf and the piano, going
to the movies and looking at Web site construction.

Norm Schroth, assistant director of Greek
life
Norm says he was attracted to Elon by the family atmosphere of the
student life office. He has been involved with Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity
since he was a student at SUNY Fredonia, so he says he feels comfortable
working with Elon's 18 fraternities and sororities. He worked previously
as a regional director for Sigma Phi Epsilon.
A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Norm has master's degrees from Ohio University
(athletic administration) and Slippery Rock University (student personnel).
In his spare time, Norm enjoys exercising, "schmoozing,"
visiting with old friends, watching movies and reading. He recently
read "The Catcher in the Rye," which he calls a timeless
classic.

Jill
Stohs, director of leadership and organization development
Jill brings a commitment to leadership and a master's degree in leadership
education to her new position at Elon. Jill earned her bachelor's
and master's degrees from the University of Nebraska, where she also
worked before moving to North Carolina with her husband, Brett.
A native of Cedar Rapids, Neb., Jill says she came to Elon "because
of the strong student focus, the wonderful people, the energy of the
campus and its beauty." She has a keen interest in leadership
and the role that personality and motivation play in developing future
leaders.
Jill enjoys the chance to spend time with her friends and family,
as well as cooking, baking, playing the piano and reading. She recently
finished reading "Leadership Without Easy Answers" by Ronald
Heifetz.
Jill has been skydiving twice. She enjoys many different types of
music, including new age, Celtic, classical, jazz and some pop.

Hardy White, environmental services manager
The green lawns and blooming flowers at Elon caught Hardy's eye when
he first came to campus. He says he was attracted to Elon by "the
great people who work in environmental services as well as the beautiful
facilities and grounds." And one of his most gratifying moments
was "becoming a part of Elon's great tradition."
When he's not busy keeping Elon beautiful, Hardy spends time with
his family. He and his wife, Brenda, have three sons, Eldred, Elden
and Jermaine, and a daughter, Courtney. Hardy is a member of the International
Executive Housekeeping Association and the Men's Fellowship. He likes
Gospel music and watching TV.
